Buttock implant surgery information
Buttock implant surgery (technically called Buttock Augmentation or Gluteal implant surgery) is a surgical procedure to provide a more pronounced curve of the butts to create a more feminine body shape.
Generally, anyone in average physical condition or good health can be a candidate for buttock augmentation surgery.
Selection of the buttock implants (Gluteal or gluteus implants)
My favorite choice of buttock implant is a smooth surface, round shape, high cohesive silicone gel from Sebbin laboratory, made in France.
The outer shell of this cohesive gel implant has excellent elasticity and integrity as it is specially designed for using at the weight bearing buttock area.
The high cohesive gel is more crosslinked than a standard silicone gel and provides a higer resistance to flow. In case the implant shell is ruptured or punctured by accident, the inside gel will rarely escape (not leak).
The consistency of high cohesive gel provide a very natural feeling as normal butt tissue. (not too hard like semi-solid silicone and not too soft like standard cohesive gel for breast implants)
When buttock augmentation surgery is done, the implant is mainly augmenting the upper buttock and the upper portion of the mid buttock. It will not fill out the other areas like hip or lower buttock.
Placement of the gluteal implants
I have preferred to place the implant within the gluteus maximus muscle which can help prevents the implant from moving too far down the buttock.
In my experience, the coverage by the gluteal muscle make the implant feel more natural to the touch and has a nicer look.
Theretically, intra-muscular placement can reduce the chance of capsular contracture (hard scar around the implant).

Surgical technique
The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia.
I prefer to insert the implant via a single incision overlying the tailbone which will be well hidden in the natural lines and creases of your skin. The scar will fade over time and become barely noticeable.
The intramuscular undermining is carried out by blunt dissection with a special instrument to develop an appropriate space (pocket) for the implant. I routinely spit the muscle at the middle (the same amount of muscle will be left in front of and behind the implant), and only restrict the undermining inside the gluteus maximus muscle.
The pockets in both sides are made just large enough for the implants under direct vision and will be carefully examined in order to assure that the results look natural and symmetric.
After the implant is inserted into its pocket, small surgical tubes will be routinely used to drain the fluid collection and also prevent hamatoma (blood clot formation in the pocket) or seroma (abnormal collection of serum in the wound).
The surgery takes 1.5-2 hours and a body pressure garment will be applied over your new butts to provide compression and support for 5-7 days postoperatively.
Liposuction &
Buttock augmentation surgery
If you also have excess fat on the lower buttock and outer thigh, this deposit of fat may make you looked wide and flat from the back. It is possible to combine buttock augmentations with liposuction to improve this wide appearance and get a nice round looking results from all angles.
Recovery and after care
The surgical tubes are removed on postoperative second or third day.
With the support of provided pressure garment, you are allowed to lie on your butt after surgery.
Partial activities like walking for a short distance can possibly be resumed after 5 days following surgery.
Full activities including gym work, bicycling, and running can usually be resumed about four weeks following surgery.
You will be taken care of by my nurse team everyday during your recovery at the nearby recommended hotel. I recommend you plan to recuperate under my care for not less than 10 days.
Risks of the procedure
All surgical procedures have a small risk of complication inherent to the surgical itself and to anesthesia. These risks include:
Infection, as manifested by swelling, tenderness, redness and fever, is an uncommon risk . However, if an implant becomes infected, it must be removed immediately. You need to wait for several months before we can reschedule another operation.
Hematoma formation (large blood clot in the wound), which is manifested by enlargement and discoloration of tissue, may, if happened, need to be removed.
Meticulously stop bleeding, surgical tube drainage and postoperative body pressure garment are important to prevent this sort of complication.
Seroma formation (large serum collection in the wound), which is manifested by proloned swelling, if happened, need to be drained by reinserting surgical tube drainage.

Capsular contracture (a condition that can occur when thick/ hard connective tissue forms around the implant body, causing hardness, definitive implant edges that can be seen or restrict movement)
Fortunately, the compression force against the implant while sitting or lying can help prevent capsular contracture, this is why the gluteal implant surgery have a lower tendency to develop contracting capsules than the breasts implant one.
