The normal stay will be 5 days 4 nights. You are supposed to remain in bed, unless Doctor Chettawut’s nurses accompany you to movefor the purpose of exercising your legs.

While lying on the bed you should keep your legs apart at 45 degrees to avoid thigh compression on the new genital area which might cause possible wound complication.

The ankle flexion-extension (stretching your foot) is also recommended. These maneuvers can promote blood circulation in your legs and prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Please don’t worry about urination as an urinary catheter is used and the urine can easily flow out through the catheter into the urine bag and the nurse will empty it at regular intervals.

You should drink a lot of water to promote urination.The catheter will be removed at the appropriate time so that your first urination experience willbe very easy.

You are allowed to have mainly a liquid diet for 4 days and this will help to reduce the chance of having a bowel movement before the vaginal packing is removed. Creamy soup and breads (toast) may be added to your meal on the 3rd and 4th days.

In case you really have a feeling to need to empty your bowel, never get out of the bed

-just call the nurse for the bed-pan.

In case you empty your bowel unintentionally, it is not a serious problem. However, you must tell the nurse to clean the area.

SRS recovery is normally not a painful process. This is because Doctor Chettawut and his anesthesiologist (Dr.Veera) normally combine epidural block technique with general anesthesia which can help reduce your post-operative pain as well as nausea symptoms.

After your surgery, your may feel a tiny tube line at your back curving and fixed with tape at your collar bone area. This is normal and the tube will be removed on the 4th day after your surgery together with the vaginal packing removal.

The vaginal packing removal is usually on the 4th day in the afternoon and there is no pain with this simple quick procedure. After this the healing inside your vagina will be inspected, your sensitivity will be tested and your new vagina depth will be demonstrated.
